Salt & Pepper

Black pepper comes from the dried, immature berries of Piper nigrum. The deep dark brown to black, deep-set wrinkled berries, when  cracked have a characteristic, penetrating odor, and a hot, biting and very pungent taste.

Cultivated in Madagascar, these rose-hued berries are from the Baies rose plant and commonly referred to as "pink peppercorns". Pungent and slightly sweet, they add colour and flavour to a wide range of sauces for meat or fish.
